About the research centre or Inria department
The Inria Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre was established in 2008. It has developed as part of the Saclay site in partnership with Paris-Saclay University and with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris .
The centre has 40 project teams , 27 of which operate jointly with Paris-Saclay University and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris; Its activities occupy over 600 people, scientists and research and innovation support staff, including 44 different nationalities.
Context
The student will be located in the Deducteam of Inria Saclay, with regular research visits to the Cambium team at Inria Paris.
Travel to conferences and summer schools is expected and funding is available.

Collaboration :
The recruited person will be in connection with members of the teams Deducteam and Cambium. In particular they are expected to collaborate with Ewen Broudin--Caradec who is doing a PhD in Deducteam with Théo Winterhalter and Frédéric Blanqui, and Mathis Bouverot-Dupuis who is doing a PhD in Cambium with Yannick Forster and François Pottier.
Responsibilities :
The person recruited is responsible for conducting research on their PhD topic.
Main activities
Main activities (5 maximum) :
- Write scientific papers to publish their results.
- Formalise in Rocq (or another proof assistant) their results.
- Work together with the advisors on concrete implementations of synthetic mathematics in one or several proof assistants, including experimental and widespread ones.
- Attend conferences and summer schools to further their training as researcher.
- Eventually write up and defend their PhD.
Skills
Technical skills and level required : Master-level in CS, specialised in formal methods.
Languages : English fluency.
Relational skills : Needs to be able to interact with people and share their work at conferences.
Other valued appreciated : Ethics of research.

The keys to success
We are looking for a student with competence in formal proofs, type theory, and logic. The candidate should have a strong background in proof assistant usage to understand the stakes at play, and to be able to perform the required tasks. Background in research, e.g. through internships, is preferred.
