Inria Saclay Research Centre was established in 2008. It has developed as part of the Saclay site in partnership with Paris-Saclay University and with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris since 2021.

The centre has 39 project teams , 27 of which operate jointly with Paris-Saclay University and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Its activities occupy over 600 scientists and research and innovation support staff, including 54 different nationalities.

Contexte et atouts du poste

Within the framework of a partnership:

  • project/programme: INRIA Saclay ISS program

The recruited engineer will work on the development of a health technology application dedicated to improving the quality of care for individuals with neurocognitive conditions, using wearables and assistive technologies.

The work focuses on the design and development of a web and mobile application, backend services, and data processing pipelines connected to wearable devices.

Is regular travel foreseen for this post?

  • Not applicable (or occasional travel depending on project needs; travel expenses covered according to current regulations).

Mission confiée

With the help of the project team and start-up founders, the recruited person will be involved in the design, development, and maintenance of the core technical platform.

The startup is PACATIS – Personalised Assistive Care and Trained Intelligent Systems with the goal to revolutionalise neurocognitive care by facility communication between caregiver and patient using co-designed and personal solutions.

 

Collaboration

The recruited person will work in close collaboration with:

  • Inria co-designer and management ISS team
  • Co-founders of the start-up
  • External stakeholders such as caregivers and technology partners

 

Responsibilities

The person recruited will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining backend and frontend components
  • Ensuring reliable data collection and processing from wearable devices
  • Contributing to architectural and technical decisions

The person will take initiatives for improving performance, usability, and scalability of the platform.

 

Steering / Management

The person recruited will be in charge of managing their technical tasks, contributing to planning, and reporting progress to project supervisors and partners.

Principales activités

  • Analyse the requirements of users (caregivers, healthcare stakeholders)
  • Develop web and mobile applications and backend services
  • Design and integrate APIs and databases
  • Implement data visualization and user interfaces
  • Test, validate, and document software components

Additional activities :

  • Contribute to the project’s open-source codebase
  • Present progress and results to partners and programme stakeholders
  • Participate in technical discussions and design reviews

Compétences

Technical skills and level required:

  • Full-stack development experience
  • Backend development with js (Express or similar)
  • Frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React preferred)
  • Database management with MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL
  • API design and data-driven application development
  • Experience handling sensor or wearable data is a plus

Languages:

  • JavaScript (required)
  • English (professional working proficiency)
  • French (appreciated but not mandatory)

Relational skills:

  • Ability to work in a team and with non-technical stakeholders
  • Clear communication and documentation skills

Other valued / appreciated:

  • Experience with Progressive Web Applications (PWAs)
  • Familiarity with wearables, IoT platforms, or machine learning
  • Previous exposure to healthcare or assistive technologies
