Within the framework of the Inria-EPFL associate team Multimodal Microstructure-Informed Connectivity: Acquisition, Reconstruction, Analysis and Validation (MMINCARAV), the Empenn research group has the opportunity to hire a postdoc for a 12 to 24 months period. The Inria-EPFL associate team program will support travels for yearly visits from/to LTS5, our EPFL partner in this collaborative project
The main objective of this project is to develop novel methods for the quantification of microstructure properties in brain tissues using diffusion MRI and relaxometry, in relation with the macrostructure organization of the brain connectome. The recruited postdoc will focus on one or a combination of the following work packages:
- Acquisition design in microstructure-enabled diffusion MRI using compressive sensing
- Combining relaxometry and diffusion
- Analyzing the microstructure-informed brain connectome
- Validating microstructure and connectivity reconstruction using simulations and reproducibility analysis.

The candidate will develop novel scientific methods to address the objectives of the MMINCARAV project and propose an experimental setup to validate these methods, for which he will have an opportunity to acquire in vivo images on the Neurinfo platform. In the context of this collaborative research project, the recruited person will be in contact with the LTS5 team from EPFL, our international partner in this project.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in applied mathematics; high Python and C/C++ proficiency is also required. Besides, we are expecting good written and spoken communication skills in English.

The keys to success
The successful candidate will be enthusiast about research in neuroimaging in a collaborative and international environment. We are expecting a person with a PhD in applied mathematics, signal/image processing, electrical engineering or computed science with experience in neuroimaging, magnetic resonance imaging and/or graph analysis. Prior work on quantiative MRI will be appreciated. A track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences is expected.
