Front-end and back-end web development for corpora annotation and exploitation
Contract type : Fixed-term contract
Level of qualifications required : Graduate degree or equivalent
Other valued qualifications : PhD
Fonction : Temporary scientific engineer
Level of experience : Up to 3 years
Context
This position is available as part of the Autogramm project which is funded by the ANR. Project partners include the Modyco team (Paris Nanterre), LaCiTo (CNRS), LISN (Université Paris-Saclay) and Inria Centre at Université de Lorraine.
The role involves participating in the development of web tools linked to the Autogramm project. This involves continuing to maintain and develop the ArboratorGrew tool, as well as developing a new tool to exploit the research results produced by the project.
The post is based in Nancy, but regular travel to Paris to meet the other project partners is planned. Travel expenses will be covered within the limits of the current scale.
Assignment
The aim of the ANR Autogramm project (autogramm.github.io) is to automate observations on languages based on annotated data.
The project also promotes the development of treebanks for under-endowed languages, in order to extract descriptions for these languages.
With the help of the researchers involved in the ANR Autogramm project, the person recruited will be required to manage the evolution of existing tools and the development of new tools specific to the project, in particular grammar extraction tools; these tools are currently prototypes that will need to be made available to the community.
Given the variety of users (the project researchers are computer scientists and linguists in the field), all the tools are available in the form of web services. The project website provides a summary of the scientific objectives and links to the tools that will be at the heart of the missions (in particular ArboratorGrew and Grew-match).
We are looking for a full-stack developer with an interest in languages. Knowledge of web technologies is desirable, particularly backend technologies such as Python (Flask, Django, etc.) and frontend technologies such as JavaScript (Vue.js, React, etc.).
The engineer will be in contact with these different types of users and will need to collaborate with them to adapt the tools to their needs and provide support.
They will be responsible for coordinating developments with the project's researchers, doctoral and postdoctoral students, and will participate in the supervision of trainees.
