A propos du centre ou de la direction fonctionnelle

The Inria Lille - Nord Europe Research Centre was founded in 2008 and employs a staff of 360, including 300 scientists working in sixteen research teams. Recognised for its outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development of the Hauts-De-France région, the Inria Lille - Nord Europe Research Centre undertakes research in the field of computer science in collaboration with a range of academic, institutional and industrial partners.

The strategy of the Centre is to develop an internationally renowned centre of excellence with a significant impact on the City of Lille and its surrounding area. It works to achieve this by pursuing a range of ambitious research projects in such fields of computer science as the intelligence of data and adaptive software systems. Building on the synergies between research and industry, Inria is a major contributor to skills and technology transfer in the field of computer science.

Contexte et atouts du poste

The work concerns a project of the INRIA-MAGNET team, in particular the development of an open source library for trustworthy decentralized AI.

The activities will include interactions with the members of the Magnet team (researchers and engineers) and with users (next to other types of users special attention will be paid to applications in the medical domain).  The activities can also include travel, e.g., to conferences to demonstrate the developed library and to contribute to the community building effort.

Mission confiée

Assignments :
With the help of other members of the MAGNET team, the recruited person will work towards the following objectives

  • development of an open source library on trustworthy decentralized AI,
  • coordination of the software development efforts in that context in the Magnet team, and
  • building of a user community around the open source library

For a better knowledge of the proposed research subject :
The article at http://arxiv.org/abs/2006.07218 contains references to relevant literature.  More generally, the project will be at the intersection of machine learning, privacy and distributed systems, and will build on techniques from both statistics and cryptography.

Collaboration :
The recruited person will collaborate with other members of the Magnet team who will (in the context of their research or development projects) contribute to the code of the library.  The recruited person will also be in connection with users to better understand their needs and to engage them in the user community.

Responsibilities :
The person recruited will be responsible for several components of the open source library, and will take initiatives for a coherent development strategy in the team and the dissemination of the open source library to the community.
