Contexte et atouts du poste

Within the framework of the ERC grant MoDeLLiver and a partnership with several hospitals, a reduced model of hemodynamics focusing on liver and the lung diseases is needed to understand their interactions, as in a number of diseases or their treatment, hemodynamics alterations in one organ has consequences on the other one.

Regular meetings with medical teams at the hospitals in the region Ile-de-France will thus be warranted.

Assignments :
The recruited person will have to 1) understand the medical state of the art about liver and lung interactions in certain diseases, 2) analyse the corresponding state of the art on the modelling side, 3) enrich a model of hemodynamics in the entire circulation for the pulmonary circulation and interaction phenomena, 4) establish with clinicians and answer the more precise biomedical questions on lung and liver disease development or treatment interaction

Collaboration :
The recruited person will be in connection with clinicians for the relevance of the model, data availibility & uncertainty and discussing the results.

Responsibilities :
The person recruited is responsible for model development and its applicability to answer clinical questions.


Principales activités

Main activities :

  • Choose the relevant dynamic model components to add in a reduced model of the circulation (ODE/1D PDE)
  • Adapt an existing code, perform numerical simulations 
  • Understand for each targeted surgical act the available data
  • Parameterize the model from these data  

Additional activities :

  • Document the code and numerical tests
  • Write articles and project advancement reports
  • Disseminate the results in diverse scientific settings (conferences, clinical partners, ...)


Technical skills and level required :

  • At ease with mathematical concepts of dynamical systems
  • Model parameterization from real data
  • Reasonable coding skills (C++, python)

Languages : English (speaking & writing), French speaking a plus

Relational skills : good interpersonal relation skill
