You will be employed by Siemens and share time between Inria (Paris) and Siemens (Erlangen) with travel and accomodation costs covered in addition to the monthly renumeration. In this thesis you will design and implement a process for secure device onboarding on constrained devices. The focus here is primarily on communication technologies from the personal area network (PAN) and from the low-power wide area network (LPWAN).

Principales activités

  • You will develop solutions based on the IETF anima BRSKI-PRM standard

  • You will develop innovative software components for sensor nodes

  • You will develop architectures, processes and methods for secure bootstrapping

  • You will implement the new processes, methods and software components as prototypes on embedded systems

  • You carry out test and experimental measurements in the laboratory

Compétences

We're not looking for superheroes. But super bright heads.

  • You are completing a master's degree (standard course duration > 4 years) in the field of electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or comparable, ideally with a focus on security

  • You have already gained basic knowledge in the areas of embedded systems, microcontrollers and network communication (PAN, LPWAN).

  • You can demonstrate knowledge of hardware-related programming, especially on limited device classes with real-time operating systems

  • You are confident in dealing with at least one system-level programming language (ideally C/C++/RUST)

  • Good knowledge of English and very good knowledge of German complete your profile
