Niveau de diplôme exigé : Thèse ou équivalent

Fonction : Post-Doctorant

Contexte et atouts du poste

Bivwac [1] is a joint research team between Inria and CNRS. We specialize in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction, data visualization and mixed reality. We are interested in the design, implementation and evaluation of new forms of immersive and interactive visualization experiences that aim to improve the understanding and manipulation of complex data and information. The aim is to transmit and advance knowledge in order to promote the construction of a sustainable and desirable future.

This position is funded by the Be·aware project [2]. Be·aware explores how augmented reality (AR) systems can reduce the spatial and temporal distance between people’s choices and their environmental impact. We will design interactive visualizations that integrate concrete environmental consequences (e.g. waste accumulation, rare earth mining) directly into people’s surroundings. This interdisciplinary research will be informed and validated by incentivized and controlled behavioral economics experiments based on game-theoretical models, and be guided by real environmental data and scenarios.

Mission confiée

The mission of the postdoctoral researcher will be to lead research projects on topics related to the Be·aware project, in collaboration with the Be·aware partners, particularly with the behavioral economists in the Lessac team in Dijon.

The post-doc will be supervised by Yvonne Jansen and Pierre Dragicevic from the Bivwac team.

Principales activités

The research activity of the postdoctoral researcher will include:

  1. Identifying topics and research questions that are interesting to study, together with the Be·aware team,
  2. Conducting informal literature surveys of previous work related to those topics,
  3. Doing conceptual work (clarify research questions, develop a clear terminology, develop conceptual frameworks) to facilitate thinking and communication,
  4. Designing user interfaces, and prototyping them in collaboration with the research engineer on the project,
  5. Designing rigorous, preregistered studies in collaboration with the Lessac team,
  6. Leading academic publication projects on those topics, including coordinating work between the co-authors and writing the main parts of the papers,
  7. At all steps of the research, documenting the processes and keeping track of all research material in order to share as much as possible on an open science repository.

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the weekly team meetings and the overall everyday life of the team.
